Casa Azul Website Project
Website Redesign for Casa Azul:
Week 1 Progress
As part of my work updating the website for [Hostel Name], I’m documenting my process to illustrate my approach to UX design and web development. This blog will serve as a reference for potential clients interested in improving their own websites.
Project Overview
This project will take approximately three weeks, during which I’ll focus on enhancing usability, SEO, and overall design to create a more seamless experience for guests.
Week 1: Understanding the Needs & Setting Goals
This week, I met with the hostel owner to discuss the main priorities for the website. Here’s a breakdown of the tasks identified:
Improve Reservation Buttons – Ensure they are more user-friendly and legible for a smoother booking experience.
Enhance SEO – Optimize site content and structure to improve search engine ranking.
Explore Payment Integration – Determine if payments can be accepted directly during the booking process.
Add a Café Menu Tab – Create a new section for guests to view the café offerings.
Enable Multi-Language Support – Assess whether the site can be easily translated for international visitors.

Further notes:
Homepage doesn’t visually imply scrolling is possible or that there’s more content below the fold
Lots of unused white space, decide on better layout
Image parallax not really working well for design
alignment of reservations needs adjustment
Galleria image not displaying
Image cutout circles need adjustment
text alignment needs help as well
About section doesn’t have label and placement is confusing
Cancelation page could be shortened/organized
Why is there a map at the bottom of the cancellation info page?
I think the map is the footer?
Cancellation page is only section separated from homepage
Mobile
Room reservation should be on a separate page because it doesn’t function at all right now on mobile
